Crowley Lake

Lake Elev.- 6774.0 Weather

The bite is still going strong, surface temps have risen up to 60F*. Weeds are coming in and the algea has exploded, remember Crowley has high phosphorus levels. This is great for producing lots of healthy trout but is also great for growing algea. To keep this stuff from sticking to your flies try coating them in epoxy or use tinsel bodies. White beads instead of of a gill is a good substitution as well.

Weve been staying in 20-25’, they are spreading out a little bit. McGee and Hilton still have fish and a few places in the north arm are trying to turn on, Sandy Point, Christmas Bay, Alligator and Leighton have been day to day.

They are eating the smaller dark pupas; Blk/Silver, Grey/Black, Maroon/Copper, Grey/Copper but a few large red bombers are showing up in stomach samples. We are also seeing Callibaetis spinners near the weedbeds around 8am. (The generations of this mayfly will progressivly get smaller as the hatch progresses.)

Flies- Pupas in size #16-18- Dark color combos Blk/Copper, Blk/Slvr, Grey/Copper, Grey/Blk, Maroon/Blk, Maroon/copper, Blk/Red. Bloodmidge #10-12, Red and maroon pupas #12-14, Callibaetis larva #14-16
