Upper Owens
FLOW- 100 cfs. Weather
Conditions are good on the Upper Owens, a recent storm has dropped temps and got some lake fish moving into the river. The flow is great and the water has really cleared up so don’t just go tromping up to the bank and start fishing. Stay back and make your first few casts from a distance and keep your shadow off the water you plan to fish.
Like always, nymphing attractors will get you into them but give the streamer a try for a savage grab. You must commit, leave everything else in the truck and only take streamers, you will get good real fast!
Little caddis are out first thing followed by the Tricos but look for them a little later on cold mornings, we didn’t see mating clouds form until after 11am yesterday. The PMD hatch is about finished up. The little fish really like rising to these hatches and while not large, they can be very selective and fun to individually target.
*Don’t wade any shallow, gravel bars as this is where fish will make their redds, let’s protect our future fish!
